Works with technical systems requiring a high level of computer literacy.EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:Accredited Record Technician preferred. High school graduate or equivalent, medical secretarial or health information education aplus. One to two years experience in a Medical Record Department.Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas ofexpertise.SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge of office equipment, i.e. FAX, copy machine, microfilm reader/printers and multi-line phones. Formal or workingknowledge of PC applications, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written,as well as good interpersonal skills required. Customer service orientated.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:Office setting – Exposure Class I. Limited exposure to situations, which could cause serious illness or injury.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Light work: sitting, standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying. Exposure to CRT and repetitive motions.WORK CONTACT GROUP:All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors and various regulatory and professional agency staff.SUPERVISED BY:Manager/CoordinatorSUPERVISES:N/ACAREER PATH:Health Information Support Specialist.General Performance Criteria: Health Information TechnicianExpectationsExceeds Meet Below· Organize, analyze and evaluate health information according toestablished policy/procedures and regulatory standards.· Collect, abstract and retrieve health information from both themedical record and secondary sources.· Process requests for health information.· Compile and utilize statistics.· Performs clerical tasks.· Interacts with Medical and Clinical Services staff in a positive andprofessional manner.· Adheres to established hospital policy and procedure related to job function.· Maintains confidentiality related to patients, staff and visitors.· Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.Original:Pay Range: $17.85-$25.90 based on experience and location
