CNY Centro Director of Fleet Maintenance in Syracuse, New York

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance, Central New York Regional Transportation Authority SALARY RANGE: Grade 9 - $91,654 to $102,443 Note: Starting salary is determined by evaluation of experience and qualifications for the position and will be set at some point between the minimum and maximum of the pay scale. JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance & repair of all authority vehicles and equipment. Position is exempt. MAJOR DUTIES: 1.Oversees running repairs, engine/transmission repairs, air conditioning and electrical repairs, diagnostic procedures, body shop operations, routine servicing and cleaning, preventive maintenance, steam cleaning, and board marker changes for fleet vehicles. 2.Communicates with managers, supervisors, and foremen regarding current and future work assignments. 3.Assures that all vehicles are operating safely and in compliance with all applicable regulations. 4.Communicates with appropriate staff to determine maintenance & repair needs and works closely with Inventory Control Manager to assure adequate parts inventory. 5.Prioritizes and assigns work to bargaining unit employees. Evaluate and coordinate requests for time off in order to determine workload and maintain departmental. 6.Writes and reviews internal controls & operating procedures for vehicle maintenance. 7.Oversees quality control process and follows up on completion of scheduled fleet repairs. 8.Coordinates process and procedure with supervisory staff as it pertains to the fueling of vehicles and fuel analysis. 9.Responsible to maintain positive employee relations. 10.Oversees and monitors employee productivity (miss-outs, absenteeism & work performance) and disciplines personnel as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education/Experience: Bachelors Degree required, as well as an equivalent combination of related work, training and/or education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. 1.Knowledge of engine operation and mechanics for a variety of vehicles and equipment. 2.Knowledge of repair principles and procedures for diesel-powered engines. 3.Knowledge of air-conditioning system operation and repair and reclamation procedures. 4.Knowledge of electrical system repair procedures. 5.Skill in diagnosing mechanical problems for a wide variety of vehicles and equipment. 6.Skill in the use of a computer. 7.Knowledge of supervisory techniques. 8.Skill in maintaining excellent employee relations, oral and written communication..
