SUNY Upstate Medical University Audio-Visual Technician in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Senior Audio Video Technician is responsible for installing new AV equipment including projectors, speakers, AV cabling, and displays. Programs basic AV control systems and audio DSP (digital signal processor). Conducts routine maintenance and updates to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of audio-video systems. Promptly diagnoses and resolves audio and video related issues in classroom and conferencing spaces. Provides audio video technical support for faculty, students, and staff during classes, presentations, and live events. Assists with training of end-users for proper use of audio and video equipment and technology. Makes recommendations for upgrades and improvements based on industry best practices..

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree & 2 years of experience in audio-video system installation and integration OR Associates & 4 years of experience in audio-video system installation and integration required. Proficient in the installation of audio-video equipment, including but not limited to, projectors, sound systems, microphones, cameras, control systems and video conferencing systems. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with the use of Crestron control software and Extron control software.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in a related AV technology field preferred. Familiarity with the use of the following software: Biamp DSP software, QSC DSP software, Microsoft Visio, Mac operating systems, and/or Windows operating systems. The following industry certifications are a plus: AVIXA CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), Extron ECP (Extron Control Professional) or Dante Level 1.

Work Days:

M-F days with occasional off-hour evenings or weekends
