Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Associate Environmental Engineer to join our team!

As an Associate Environmental Engineer in our group, you will be involved in conceptualizing, evaluating, planning, designing, and permitting projects related to water and wastewater treatment applying biological, physical, and chemical treatment technologies for a variety of industrial clients. The successful candidate will be comfortable with both in-office and in-field projects, will show strong technical skills and solid decision-making, will prioritize safety, will take initiative and be eager to learn, and will be capable of performing well while working on multiple diverse tasks.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop concept and preliminary designs for systems tailored to meet specific treatment criteria against specified influent characteristics.

  • Prepare multi-parameter mass balances for existing and new wastewater treatment systems

  • Predict fate and transport for a wide variety of contaminants within a treatment system as well as in the environment.

  • Utilize wastewater modeling software including PIPE-FLO, BioWIN, and MINEQL+.

  • Draft technical reports and other technical materials.

  • Prepare technical presentations and participate in client meetings.

  • Perform process and hydraulic engineering calculations to support project objectives.

  • Conduct statistical analysis on historical databases of complex treatment systems.

  • Work with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, technicians, and construction staff.

  • Apply conventional and advanced physical, biological, and chemical treatment technologies to solve novel and complex wastewater challenges.

  • Participate in developing proposals for various projects depending on the scope.

  • Support the preparation of construction cost estimates for treatment systems.

  • Supporting permitting efforts with local, regional, and national permitting agencies.

  • Conduct or oversee field investigations and construction support services.

  • Assists in the preparation of specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.

  • Review engineering materials (e.g., submittals) from vendors, contractors, and clients.

  • Assist in executing bench-scale and pilot-scale treatability studies for process development.

  • Provide system commissioning, startup, and operations and maintenance (O&M) support.

  • Pursue a long-term goal of Professional Engineer (PE) registration.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Master’s degree (MS) in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering with a strong focus on water and wastewater treatment systems design.

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) degree in environmental science, civil and environmental engineering, or chemical engineering.

  • 0+ years relevant industry experience.

  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water, wastewater, and stormwater management and treatment processes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Familiarity or experience with AutoCAD and/or other drafting software.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

  • Proficiency in various engineering computer modeling software applications.

  • Strong technical writing ability and good communication skills.

  • Understanding of environmental rules and regulations – including CWA, CERCLA, and RCRA.

  • Valid US driver’s license

Salary Range:

$25.34 - $44.33
