The Barnes Center at The Arch is Syracuse University's integrated health and wellness center which incorporates counseling, health, health promotion and recreation. The Assistant Director is a core member of the Counseling leadership team and reports to the Counseling Director. The Assistant Director assists the Director in developing and implementing the Counseling Center's mission and vision and assists in the centers day to day management.

The Assistant Director provides generalist mental health services including the provision of short-term individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, walk-in services, consultation, preventative outreach programming, and participation in the Center's on-call rotation. Administrative responsibilities include the provision of clinical and administrative supervision to staff therapists, assistance in the management of daily clinical operations, and serving as a liaison with our health and wellness offices.

The Assistant Director serves on appropriate counseling, Barnes Center, and university committees. The Assistant Director must demonstrate high levels of cultural competency, be well versed at working with students and staff from a wide range of underrepresented backgrounds, and demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, social justice work.
