       License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia driver's license and Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Level 1-A Erosion Control Certification required within 90 days. Confined space entry certification preferred. Georgia Utility Contractor License preferred.Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience Qualifications: Five years of experience operating heavy equipment and supervising grading and sitework crews in a large commercial or municipal operation required. Experience in heavy grading equipment, pipeline construction, parking lot construction, athletic field construction, irrigation installation and maintenance, and trucks used in grading, pipelines, landscaping, and/or grounds maintenance preferred. Detention pond knowledge preferred.Skills Qualifications: Ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately; ability to manage work crews; ability to train and supervise other crew members and private contractors; ability to operate dozers, large excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, trucks, tractor-trailer low-boys, pipe lasers, pipe cameras, and other equipment; and ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner.Primary Responsibilities: Operate heavy grading equipment and assist the Coordinator of Site Development in the supervision of grading and sitework crews and time and material crews in the successful completion of assignments.1. Operate large grading and construction equipment including large excavators, dozers, rollers, skid steers, etc.a. Install, repair, and maintain detention ponds, storm systems, and parking lots. 2. Provide the field engineering necessary to perform the work on multiple site development projects. a. Layout the work to be performed to the desired alignment and elevation requirements.3. Load, secure, haul, and deliver heavy equipment in accordance with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) regulations. 4. Understand and implement safe working precautions when excavating around schools and concentrations of various underground utilities.5. Supervise private contractors through direct supervision of daily activities, such as school landscape projects, parking lots, athletic facilities, pipelines, and detention ponds. 6. Operate a pipe camera and other diagnostic tools to locate, analyze, and diagnose the cause and possible remediation of sink holes and other storm system failures. 7. Be on call for emergency work 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. 8. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
