       License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia Driver's License and Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required within 180 days. Category 24 pesticide license and Level 1A Erosion Certification required within 180 days.Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience Qualifications: Four years experience in supervising grounds maintenance/landscape crews in a large commercial or municipal operations required. Experience with grading equipment and trucks used in landscaping, grounds maintenance, and/or farming required. Experience with athletic field construction, irrigation installation and maintenance, irrigation pumps, computer irrigation controllers, and laser grading of large tracts preferred.Skills Qualifications: Ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately; ability to manage, direct, and lead work crews; and ability to operate heavy duty trucks and landscaping equipment, including but not limited to, heavy duty commercial tractors, skid loaders, backhoes, front-end loaders and large trackhoes.Primary Responsibilities: Perform maintenance as assigned by the Coordinator of Athletics and Grounds Maintenance for the successful completion of daily tasks and the supervision of time and material (contractor) crews performing grounds maintenance, repairs, and improvements.1. Engage in all daily tasks, such as athletic field maintenance and construction, irrigation repair and installation, storm water pipe, landscaping projects, detention pond work and supervise contractors as necessary.2 Use large grading and construction equipment to perform daily duties.3. Use work site safety precautions when excavating around local schools with materials transported and used on local school sites.4. Use laser grading equipment as required.5. Use GPS surveying equipment for data collection and staking of site improvements.6.. Maintain and account for all tools, parts, and equipment issued according to departmental guidelines.7. Be on-call 24 hours a day in case immediate assistance is needed.8. Oversee the maintenance of all high school athletic fields, and outdoor surfaces. This pertains to all physical and chemical practices as scheduled by Coordinator of Athletics and Grounds Maintenance.9. Perform other duties as assigned.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties.
