Global Commercial Services (GCS) is committed to service and innovation and offers our Commercial Card Members a wide range of differentiated products and services. The U.S. SME business is a fast-growing B2B payments business with differentiated payment offerings.

How will you make an impact on this role?

The Strategy & Transformation teams serve as a critical driver of SME growth initiatives, business oversight functions, and is an incubator for net new business development strategies. The Manager - Strategic Planning is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive efficiency and effectiveness across the US SME organizations, lead enterprise-wide collaboration where necessary, and support our long-term growth plans. This is a critical role in ensuring the US SME organization is well positioned to deliver for our shareholders, customers, and business. The Manager- Strategic Planning will partner closely across Enterprise stakeholders including the SME Executive Office, client facing Account Development and Sales teams, and Global Merchant Services teams to ensure clients realize the full potential of American Express B2B product offerings.

A successful candidate will be a motivated initiative-taker who is passionate about and experienced in bringing others along in a fast paced environment. This role may be a great fit for talent experienced in driving strategic planning and transformation initiatives which span from concept development to Go-To-Market planning, through to designing Key Performance Indicators for measuring success across large organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop impactful presentations, content, agendas, and internal processes for key internal and external meetings (e.g. Senior leadership meetings)

  • Collaborate with high number of cross-functional teams to gather inputs, while ensuring strategic alignment across critical stakeholders, to launch business initiatives ranging from B2B pipeline growth initiatives to Compliance mandated changes

  • Ensure lockstep alignment with SME commercial teams, harness Voice of the Customer feedback thru client facing colleagues, and help inform partner roadmaps and plans

  • Operate with integrity in all things and ensure strict adherence to controls and processes for all business development initiatives to be conducted in a compliant manner

  • Groom and prioritize opportunity sets with compelling customer, colleague, and shareholder value propositions. Socialize these ideas with senior leadership and colleagues across US SME and the Company.

  • Use feedback to build consensus and commitment on a roadmap and overall strategy for US SME.

  • Build and implement implementation plans to deliver results, outcomes, and monitor and report out on results.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years professional experience, preferably with exposure to sales, B2B marketing and corporate strategy. It is expected that past experience has built exceptional communication skills, people leadership, and an ability to successfully prioritize and project manage

  • Experience driving matrixed change across multiple groups, partners, and leadership levels

  • Outstanding presentation skills both written and verbal and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Flexible nature with an ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize

  • Exceptional project management and process design skills

  • Success at developing and evaluating strategies across dimensions including growth, customer experience, financial, and risk management, amongst others.

  • An ability to inspire balanced dialogue across all these dimensions and ensuring all necessary perspectives are brought to the table.

  • Experience communicating with senior internal and external partners and an ability to influence and direct prioritization decisions and outcomes.

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and creative with a demonstrated ability to get results under tight timelines and in particular handle multiple tasks concurrently.

  • A Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, or Marketing

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
