Amazon Web Services (AWS) internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks during summer. By applying to this position, your application will be considered for all locations we hire for in the United States.

Do you love automating and streamlining manual processes? Systems Development Engineer interns work with technical leaders to refine technical direction, and then follow through with detailed review, designs, and truly innovative code.Systems Development Engineers are “Builders”, developers of unique technology solutions to address business and customer problems. You will build internal and external services within the AWS software systems and be responsible for understanding the operational impact of changes.

Key job responsibilities

Collaborating with experienced Amazonians to design and build innovative products and services.

Troubleshooting, researching and resolving problems.

Building tools and automation to support the team’s mission.

Basic Qualifications

• Are enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

• Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum

• Expected graduation date between 10/2025 - 9/2028.

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.

• Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.

• Knowledge in networking, storage systems, and/or operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience programming or scripting language like Python, Java, C or C+- Experience with open-source technologies like Linux, Spring or React

• Experience with distributed computing, programs and systems

• Experience with automating and simplifying team development, test, and operations processes

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $42.88/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $88.94/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
