The Role:

Amazon Design Technologies is a multi-disciplinary team that provides design software, systems platforms and design processes to our Product Development, New Technology, Operations, Retail, Footwear, Apparel and Manufacturing teams. We are looking for an experienced Systems Development Engineer who enjoys solving problems and have a strong technical background in Systems Engineering and Software Development.

Key job responsibilities

As a Systems Development Engineer in Design Technologies team, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting the systems that Amazon's research, development, and design teams rely on to build the next generation of Amazon digital devices. You will coordinate with researchers and engineers to build and support the infrastructure they need. You will work with vendors to evaluate, purchase, deploy, and support mission-critical tools. You will customize and integrate third-party software to meet Amazon's needs. You will improve existing infrastructure to ensure it continues to meet Amazon's high bar for operational excellence

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ year of experience in Systems Administrations (in both Linux/windows) in operating systems, servers, storage, networking, security.

  • 2+ years of experience in building services as well as automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure utilizing AWS cloud solutions

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of experience in designing/architecting (scalable, reliable and extendable) new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in managing one or more schedulers such as PBS/OpenPBS, Slurm, IBM LSF and troubleshooting Simulation Job issues in AWS

  • Experience managing on-prem data centers.

  • Knowledge of databases systems (SQL & NoSQL)

  • Knowledge of front-end/UI development using scripts such as Javascript, React, CSS, HTML

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
