Amazon Sr. Materials Program Manager, Echo NPI Product Operations in Sunnyvale, California

The Sr. Materials Program Manager (MPM) is responsible for the management and delivery of the product financial health and supply chain for groundbreaking, highly integrated consumer products. This person has a business orientation and is responsible for working within the local and remote operations, engineering and software teams driving development, implementation and management of the product budget. This person is the business voice responsible for capturing, documenting and communicating financial exposures and outlay as it relates to their product. This person is also responsible for ensuring a healthy supply chain for the product. They are involved throughout all stages of the product family's lifecycle to ensure Lab126 achieve all financial targets through end-of-life. They will support weekly executive product line reviews outlining performance against budget, target and actual cost.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with engineering and the supply chain team to set program cost targets for your project

  • Track the program actual costs versus target to identify program deltas and corrective actions to bring back on track

  • Attend program new product introduction meetings to understand the cost implication of engineering and/or process changes as related to you product fully loaded cost targets

  • Work with the OEM to set your product purchase order cost for the upcoming period

  • Manage purchase price variance claims resulting from engineering changes, component obsolescence or forecast variance

  • Drive the supply chain and operations team to provide detailed cost reduction forecast that enable you to meet and exceed your product goals

  • Work with the Lab126 Management team to ensure predictable, accurate forecasts for your products

  • Host weekly executive management cost reviews that deep dive through every aspect of your product cost

  • Own the Supplier Plan of Record (SPOR) and ensure that all program suppliers are competitive on cost, quality and delivery

  • Provide oversight of C-suppliers on the CM AVL

About the team

The Product Operations team provide a central point of contact into the broader Devices and Services (D&S) organization. Serving as the single threaded leader (STL), we align strategy, planning, and execution to bring the Amazon Devices innovative product vision to life.

The MPM is specifically the STL for product cost and program SPOR (Supplier Plan of Record). There are two other functions within Product Operations. OPM (Operations Program Manager) who coordinates within all of Operations to deliver the committed quantity of launch units. And MM (Materials Manager) who is responsible for CTB (Clear to Build) during NPI builds.

As a program manager within Amazon, the MPM engages with and drives cross-functionally across Amazon's complex device ecosystem. The MPM's closest cross-functional partners are Hardware Engineering, Product Management (PM), Finance, GCM (Global Commodities Management), SQM (Supplier Quality Management), and MPE (Manufacturing Product Engineering).

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline

  • 7+ years experience in the business procurement organization of a consumer market segment company

  • Experience in procurement practices working with engineering, supply chain and Tier 1 OEM partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Working knowledge of consumer electronics technologies, products and tools preferable

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maximize internal resources

  • Experience leading and defining requirements and driving these across diverse organizations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
