Primary Function
The Show Engineer plays a project-based role in the Studio Engineering team, responsible for running live broadcasts and maintaining the media infrastructure across LinkedIn's 7+ studio sites and broadcast venues. This role ensures the smooth execution of large-scale live events and productions. As the primary engineering contact for assigned shows and events, the Show Engineer will partner with the Studio Engineering teams to deliver high-quality workflows and maintain broadcast standards.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
Range: $75/hr. - $85/hr.
Duties & Responsibilities
Platform Delivery:
Oversee engineering needs for live broadcasts, including infrastructure maintenance and monitoring broadcast standards across multiple studios
Serve as the first escalation point for technical issues during assigned shows and events, addressing incidents and escalating complex issues to Sr. Engineers as necessary.
Maintain uninterrupted studio uptime for events and shows, supporting live operators and producers
Communicate and manage changes in the studio environment
Media Workflows:
Document and implement studio standards and media infrastructure to meet show deliverables
Develop and manage operational runbooks for different show types in collaboration with Sr. Engineers
Studio Builds:
Assist with venue and studio builds in alignment with provided plans and media team requirements
Technical Focus:
Support the lifecycle management of broadcast hardware, including setup and testing of studio systems for productions
Troubleshoot and manage live encodes from remote events, studio shoots, and production spaces
Gather data and assess the effectiveness of the media platform
Provide direct support for live productions, including off-site events (travel may be required)
Implement and manage REMI workflows and efficient live video workflows, encoding procedures, and streaming protocols
Production Support:
Provide direct support for live productions, including off-site events (travel may be required).
Participate in pre-production meetings to intake technical requirements for various high-priority events.

Skills & Qualifications
An overall understanding of the live program production process is necessary and a strong sense of urgency in solving customer requests to ensure timely resolution is critical
Familiarity with emerging IP media technologies such as SMPTE 2022-6, ST2110, AES-67, Dante audio, and NMOS IS-04 05 06
Proficiency in network IP protocols, including AVC/HEVC, RTMPS, RIST, JPEG-2000, H264/5, SRT, NDI, and stream analytics
Operational knowledge of video storage solutions and cloud-based broadcast infrastructure
Ability to manage and troubleshoot broadcast hardware and live encodes
Strong documentation skills for maintaining system as-builts, workflows, and general documentation
Ability to gather data, measure platform effectiveness, and implement improvements.
Effective communication skills for interacting with end users, business owners, developers, systems engineers, and executives
Ability to translate complex technical needs into clear customer outcomes
Proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in high-pressure environments
Strong collaborative skills, with experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including technical producers, broadcast engineers, and account managers
Ability to facilitate effective teamwork and maintain positive working relationships with various stakeholders involved in live streaming projects
Education & Experience
5+ years of hands-on experience in live production and/or studio production environments, demonstrating a strong background in project management
Technical Project Management or similar credentials, demonstrating advanced project management skills
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Broadcast Technology, IT, Media Production, Audio/Video Engineering, Communications, or a related discipline
