Insight Global Power Optimization Engineer in Sunnyvale, California

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Power Optimization Engineer to join one of the world's leading technology companies. This will be part of the Reality Labs organization which brings people around the world together through next generation Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality. As a HW Validation Engineer, you will be working on testing/validation for cutting edge AR devices. The main function of a hardware engineer is to research, design, develop, test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. A typical hardware engineer is responsible for the manufacture and installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components. This team will be responsible for owning the power measurement process, developing and refining power models, selecting appropriate power measurement tools and equipment, analyzing power consumption data, and identifying areas for power optimization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve plan layout, including type of computers and peripheral equipment modifications.

  • Review and approve product prototypes, working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.

  • Supervise functioning of equipment and approve modifications to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.

  • Write detailed functional specifications that document the hardware development process and support hardware introduction.

  • Act as a subject matter expert to engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system.

  • Provide training and support to system designers and users.

  • Design and develop computer hardware and support peripherals, including central processing units (CPUs), support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, and printers and disk drives.

  • Direct technicians, engineering designers or other technical support personnel as needed.

Pay range: $80-85/hr

Skills and Requirements

5 plus years of experience working as an electronics validation/test-engineer

Expertise in power measurement, analysis, and optimization

Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals

Use standard lab test equipment and function (Oscilloscope, function generator, multimeter, LCR meter etc.)

Design and execution of manual or automated testing, document measurements and maintain good test data record keeping.

 1 Consumer device experience

 2 Power consumption, working in a lab environment

 3 Python experience, Data driven 1 Leadership/lead experience - PM qualities null
