Aerospace CNC Mill Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist capable of performing tasks that require high levels of cognitive function and judgment. The ideal candidate must not be mentally or physically impaired from any cause that can adversely affect their ability to perform the duties safely and competently. The candidate must be able to take prompt and appropriate responses to operating conditions, work in an unfatigued state, accurately gauge lengths of time and distance, quickly store and recall instructions in short-term memory, concentrate, and cope with sudden changes in surroundings, emergency situations, and alarms.
Responsibilities
Follow verbal machine operation instructions from the department lead, assess drawings and manufacturing planning for machining requirements, carefully load parts into machines, operate the machine’s control panel, unload parts, deburr parts, and arrange parts in boxes or on pallets, sometimes running two machines at once.
Monitor features and dimensions on each component run and deburr finished parts.
Support supervisors in the running of production parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, deburring and inspecting quality parts for conformance to requirements.
Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, tool setups, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements, and identify the likely results of actions before taking them.
Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required to ensure quality production. Report all machine malfunctions to the Lead.
Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly, leaving the workstation better than found, and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
Adhere and comply with state and federal laws, the Company Quality Program and procedures, Company policies, and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
May perform other duties as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.
ITAR Compliant
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a vertical machine operator.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with CNC programming via MasterCam with vertical and horizontal mills, 4th axis machining, positioners, and Fanuc and Okuma controllers.
Experience with different types of equipment, inspection tooling, speeds/feeds, and tooling.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Demonstrate a caring, committed, and concerned attitude about safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Use of personal tools, including lockable toolbox, dead blow, Allen wrenches, calipers, tape-measure, dial, and/or travel indicator is a plus.
Blueprint reading.
Experience with sheet metal machining (shop is 95% sheet metal machining).
Experience with setup machines, Haas, and Fanuc controllers.

Work Environment
The job operates in a manufacturing plant and professional office environment. This role may use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. In the manufacturing environment, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, excessive heat, cold, wet, bright light, and slippery conditions. The noise level in the manufacturing plant can be very loud (ear protection is provided).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sumner, Washington.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr.
