What do Intake Specialists do?

Specialists are…

  • working directly with patients and community partners, through electronic means of email and phone calls.

  • collecting demographic and basic clinical information in order to provide the potential patient with an appointment with a clinician or service at SOH who is most appropriate to the patient’s needs.

  • providing appropriate referrals, if requested services are unavailable internally at SOH

  • interfacing with various teams and departments at SOH – all with the goal of assisting existing and potential patients with connecting to new providers or treatment services.

    Our Intake Specialist position presents an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual looking to work within the fast-paced environment of an Intensive Outpatient program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with patients with behavioral health or addictions diagnosis. The Intake Specialist will assist with social service functions that will help patients in meeting their bio-psychosocial needs while allowing them to achieve their optimal level of emotional health.

    Qualifications

    Qualification requirements:

    Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree, with 3 years minimum experience in Behavioral Health, Behavioral Health Intake or closely related job. Strong consideration for applicants with a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or closely-related field.

    One-year medical or behavioral health insurance verification related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience desired but not required.

    Knowledge/skills requirements :

  • Basic computer knowledge;

  • Excellent communication and screening skills;

  • Skills in working independently and implementing time management strategies;

  • Ability to demonstrate positive team interactions;

  • Proficient in use of email, internet, and phones;

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, referral sources, insurance companies, and colleagues;

  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures;

  • Knowledge of administrative procedures;

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures;

  • Attention to detail and accuracy;

  • Problem-solving and customer service oriented
