Family and Children's Association Per Diem Family Peer Advocate in Suffolk, New York

Responsibilities Meet with families face to face in their homes or in the community Advocate for services and systems that are fair, responsive and family driven Increase awareness of and enhance family strengths and natural supports Empower families to make informed decisions and advocate on behalf of and in collaboration to promote shared decision making Prepare and accompany families to meetings to ensure their voice is included in the planning and decision- making at all levels Link to and provide trainings, workshops, support groups to enhance parenting skills Collaborate with IMH worker monthly Complete all documentation by required deadlines and in compliance with agency and funding requirements

Qualifications Required: Must have lived experience parenting a child with special needs High school diploma Intermediate computer skills Valid and clean New York State Driver's License Family Peer Credential, Preferred
