JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Platform Manager is responsible for the design, administration, operational performance, maintenance and availability of the server, hardware, operating systems. This role will also manage security, data protection, disaster recovery, cloud environments, unified communications, and business applications.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

  • Installs new/ rebuilds existing physical and virtual servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services. settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with current best practice standards and project/ operational requirements.
  • Performs daily system monitoring, administration and operational support of the server, storage and backup landscape.
  • Configures, performs, verifies and automates backups and recoveries, ensuring all required data and file systems are successfully backed up to the appropriate medium.
  • Triages, troubleshoots, repairs and recovers from hardware or software issues.
  • Supporting solution performance models and plan capacity effectively.
  • Manages communication platforms such as enterprise Voice over IP (VOIP), cloud fax, and Microsoft Teams systems
  • Maintain updates on various operating systems (Windows, Linux, Oracle, VMWare)
  • Works with end users and department managers to identify and deliver necessary service levels to provide support and issue resolution.
  • Manages and maintains Active Directory/ LDAP environment.
  • Provides training and support to end-users as needed.
  • Provides project management, development, and support for Infrastructure related improvements
  • Analyzing hardware, software and network needs of the organization and working with business units to fulfill those needs
  • Must be a self- starter, detail oriented, able to interact professionally with all levels of the organization, possess excellent communication skills and foster positive interactions with customers.
  • Serve as backup for daily operations performed by other team members.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to other IT teammates.
  • Remain current with industry trends and solutions.
  • Ability to learn and utilize Lean Six Sigma as a continuous improvement methodology to eliminate waste, improve accuracy and build quality into processes and solutions.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Works flexible hours in order to provide maintenance, emergency support and backup for teammates after hours and on weekends.
  • Works within scheduled rotation for on-call support
  • Will be required to travel up to 25% of the time

     

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Current network protocols, operating systems, and standards

Server, network, and desktop hardware

Helpdesk ticketing systems, enterprise Voice over IP (VOIP) systems

Disaster Recovery solutions including but not limited to Backup systems, Replication and Snapshots

Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems

Solutions monitoring the performance and health of infrastructure

Working knowledge with PowerShell and shell scripting

Experience and proficiency in leading and managing projects

Proficiency with VMWare virtualized environments

Proficiency with operating systems for both server and client environments including Microsoft Windows, Linux and related management tools

Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networks

Knowledge of system security techniques

Good problem-solving and communication skills

Project management

Understand and adhere to proper change control policies and practices

Read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides
