Vontier Product Development Engineer in Stow, Ohio
Join our innovative team as a Product Development Engineer and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of tool design and functionality. Dive into the world of competitive benchmarking and product research to spearhead the creation of groundbreaking tools. Your mission will be to craft and maintain meticulous technical documents, ensure product designs meet the highest company and ASTM standards, and formulate rigorous testing criteria for our exciting new product lines.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead the charge in new product development, from concept to completion, ensuring each tool meets our rigorous New Item Creation (NIC) process.
Conduct comprehensive product testing, utilizing state-of-the-art lab equipment to guarantee our tools’ performance and reliability.
Champion product quality and drive warranty reduction initiatives, analyzing data to enhance tool performance and durability.
Collaborate closely with suppliers, providing critical engineering feedback to elevate production and quality assurance processes.
Utilize your exceptional communication skills to bridge the gap between field personnel and end-user customers, ensuring a seamless flow of information.
Preferred Qualifications:
SolidWorks certifications (CSWA/CSWP) and hands-on simulation experience.
Proven expertise with material testing equipment and automotive industry standards.
A knack for problem-solving and a solid understanding of ASTM standards.
Hands-on automotive experience with an excellent working knowledge of automotive tools
Willingness to travel up to 10%, including potential international trips.
Measures of Performance:
Achieve a warranty reduction goal with at least two successful projects per quarter.
Maintain on-time delivery for the new item creation process and product development projects.
Respond promptly to customer service inquiries, providing expert engineering solutions.
Position Qualifications:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a strong background in material testing and manufacturing environments.
Minimum 3 years experience in material testing and comparison to industry standards; experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Proficiency in SolidWorks, problem-solving methodologies, and Microsoft Office Suite.
