State of Massachusetts Hazardous Materials Instructional Program Coordinators in Stow, Massachusetts

The Department of Fire Services (DFS) is recruiting to fill the Hazardous Materials Instructional Program Coordinator position. This is a part-time, contract position with no benefits. Description of Duties * * * Responsible for the coordination of all aspects of theHazardous Materials Training Programat the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA) under the leadership and direction of the supervising Program Coordinator III (PCIII)or Curriculum Education Specialist * Prepares annual budget and annual training objectives in collaboration with the PCIII, * Serves as the primary subject matter expert for the program * Responsible for the overall delivery of all activities and sessions in theprogram * Submits required documentation for evaluation for credential credits and OEMS credits, when applicable * Monitors adherence to the annual budget as well as future forecasting for the program * Responsible for new course development as well as program updates in accordance with current NFPA standards, including curricula, instructional materials and student materials * Schedules course sessions and required information in the Learning Management System (LMS), including but not limited to location, resources, instructors, crib support, lodging/hotel, course materials * Creates flyers for marketing distribution, when applicable * Verifies and proofs all program-related press releases for the PIO * Administers the selection of students for priority selection courses * Researches, schedules and secures speakers, lecturers, subject matter experts, or any other participants for the program as needed * Acts as liaison between MFA and partner entities to deliver specific collaborative and comprehensive programs * Responsible for maintaining and completing all course completion documentation paperwork, rosters, attendance records and score sheets * Communicate with the certification branch to schedule closed exams and verify student course completion by submitting master rosters and completed score sheets as needed * Works with Staff Services to recruit and develop instructors for the program * Directs technical supervision of assistant coordinators and all instructors in the program * Helps develop new instructors through coaching, mentoring, teaching and providing authentic feedback * On an annual basis or as needed, evaluate instructors who work in the program * Assigns and supervises the instructors who teach within the discipline to ensure quality and consistency * Maintains a list of future class requests * Prepares and ensures all facilities, props and equipment are ready for use for the program deliveries * Works to be accessible to students, instructors and staff to reconcile or prevent student or classroom issues * Operates in accordance with the Standard Operating Policies of the Commonwealth, DFS and MFA * Actively participates in Coordinator meetings * May be assigned additional projects by MFA management * Minimum Qualifications: · Must have a minimum of four years of relevant fire service or emergency service industry experience such as a fire officer, fire investigator, training officer, or fire prevention position. · Must have completed Fire Instructor II course and been promoted to Fire Instructor II with the MFA and one year in curriculum development or a minimum of four year of equivalent experience of instructional curriculum development and course delivery. Preferred Qualifications: · Basic understanding of all courses offered by the program group · 200 hours of instructional time in the prior two years · Basic knowledge of the MFA's Learning Management System (LMS) · Basic understanding of leadership principles · Fire Instructor II certification · Must have superior interpersonal skills · Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint · Must be well organized and a team player · Must have demonstrated work record to support the skills required · Must have thorough knowledge of the program that is being coordinated · Must have knowledge of Massachusetts district HazMat response team operations * * *An Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
