The Research Foundation for The State University of New York at Stony Brook Research Support Specialist in Stony Brook, New York

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in any biological sciences (Biochemistry, Biology, Physiology, Molecular or Cell Biology) in hand by end of Spring Semester 2021. Research experience in the field of kidney disease. Proficient in cell culture, protein quantification, western blot, RT-PCR, immunostaining, perform statistical calculations and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular or Cell Biology. Graduate level training in molecular biology and/or biochemistry. Experience handling mice (mouse breeding, mouse surgeries, tail vein injections).

Brief Description of Duties:

Within defined test or analytical protocols, operate equipment, carry out test procedures, as well as collate and interpret data using special methods in support of a research project or program in the Department of Medicine - Nephrology.

  • Perform cell culture studies, protein quantification, RNA quantification, western blotting, RT-PCR, and immunostaining. Also, must perform data analysis and be able to troubleshoot.

  • Assist with maintaining mouse colonies, in vivo experiments involving mouse models of kidney disease

  • Assist with lab organization, ordering lab supplies, library research, and perform inventory on supplies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
