Description

Two Full-Time positions for Acute Pain Services: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.

Responsible for direct patient care. Participating in pain education among the Stony Brook health system. This position serves as a healthcare professional who, under the direction a licensed physician, provides healthcare service to patients in Acute Pain Service. This is a Full-Time position. Available shifts:

Position 1: 4 days (10 hour shifts from 1pm-11pm), includes one weekend day per month from 7am to 5pm in exchange for a weekday.

Position 2: 4 days (10 hour shifts from 9am-7pm), includes one weekend day per month from 7am-5pm in exchange for a weekday

Duties include:

  • Perform clinical evaluations of patients which may involve histories, physical examinations, laboratory testing and consultations.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Counsel and advise patients and families.
  • Responsible for the education of patients and their families, as well as the general public.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Physician Assistant: NYS license or eligibility as a Physician Assistant. National Board Certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited school of Physician Assistants.

Nurse Practitioner: NYS license or eligibility as a Nurse Practitioner. National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in pain management, neurosurgery or orthopedic surgery specialties. Pain Management certification.
