Title: Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer

Requirements: BS/MS in Athletic Training

NYS Certified Athletic Trainer BOC Certified Athletic Trainer

Key Functions:

• Promote safe and appropriate practice, competition and treatment facilities

• Advise on the selection, fit, function and maintenance of athletic equipment

• Develop and implement a comprehensive emergency action plan

• Develop injury and illness prevention strategies

• Provide for on-site recognition, evaluation, and immediate treatment of injury and wellness, with appropriate referrals

• Facilitate rehabilitation and reconditioning

• Help to establish protocols regarding environmental conditions

• Work in conjunction with the Head ATC, Department Chairperson and athletic supervisors at Gelinas and Murphy Junior High Schools to provide support in the aforementioned areas

• Assist in game coverage at the High School and Jr High Schools.

• Assist in Concussion Management and ImPact Testing

• Responsible for appropriate record keeping and completing District insurance forms as needed.

• Assist in organization and inventory of supplies at HS & Jr High Schools. Submitting annual budget for medical supplies for the year.

• Preparing and maintaining first aid kits, water coolers and ice chests for all teams.

  Terms of Employment :

  Monday-Friday -1:00 P.M. at Ward Melville, concluding after completion of last athletic contest or practice Saturday – Cover practices and games (times TBD) Sunday – Possible coverage of make-up games and practices

  Salary : Commensurate with experience.
