Dignity Health Medical Group – Stockton a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation is a multi-specialty clinic with three locations in Stockton California. Along with our local affiliated Dignity Health hospital (St. Joseph’s Medical Center) we offer an integrated care delivery system that provides primary care for family medicine and internal medicine gastroenterology neurology colon and rectal surgery urology general surgery psychiatry and radiation oncology.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Dietitian who is knowledgeable in nutrition for a variety of health conditions. The Dietitian will work hand in hand with our Endocrinologist, Gastroenterology and Primary Care providers to assist with the nutrition for patients who have chronic conditions such as diabetes, chronic kidney disease, congestive heart failure (low sodium diets), obesity, stomach conditions and more. In addition, this role may have the opportunity to develop group classes that can help patients manage their nutrition better.

Position Summary:

Combines knowledge of nutrition, diet therapy, psychology, health and wellness management, and marketing to plan, implement, and evaluate services for nutrition education and counseling for ambulatory patients and consumers. Teaches all portions of health education classes. Participates in planning and implementation of Education Services programs as related to areas of expertise and as a member of Education Services division of Dignity Health Medical Group - Stockton.

Resopnsibilities may include:

  • Provides nutrition counseling to patients.

  • Applies adult learning techniques to one-on-one patients and groups in a class setting.

  • Assesses patient for nutrition counseling and makes appropriate selection of counseling technique and process.

  • Plans and develops curriculum for health education programs.

  • Participates in continued education related to nutrition education.

  • Establishes environment conducive to behavior change and transfer of education.

  • Works with manager and education assistants to ensure sufficient and appropriate office and class materials.

  • Conveys confidential patient information back to referring primary care physician.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in dietetics or nutrition from an accredited college or university.

  • Registered Dietitian (RD)

  • Effective listening and verbal skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals as well as groups.

  • Ability to perform skin fold measurement and blood glucose monitoring required.

  • Knowledge of age and gender specific characteristics.

  • Must be able to apply adult learning principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with g-tube management is preferred.

  • Previous experience with medical information systems and work processing desirable.

  • Knowledge of nutrition for a variety of health conditions preferred.

  • Experience in community/ambulatory clinics a plus.

Pay Range

$32.08 - $46.51 /hour
