This position is assigned to the Molecular Diagnostics section at OADDL. The primary responsibilities of this position are to prepare and process animal tissues, fluids, bacterial/fungal cultures, and other clinical specimens for DNA/RNA extraction; conduct routine molecular biology techniques, assist in writing and implementing new SOPs, test validation, and maintenance of equipment; assist in maintaining the molecular diagnostics laboratory and all storage areas in a clean and orderly state; and other duties as assigned. Occasional weekend and holiday work will be assigned.\ \ Rabies immunization is required and will be provided.\ \ Occasional unpleasant odors from animal tissues and diagnostic specimens. Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-throughput environment with repetitive pipetting tasks. Occasional holiday and weekend work.\ \ Handling of chemicals, handling of animal tissues, biological/zoonotic agents (including but not limited to viral and bacterial, fugal, and protozoal organisms), and use of electrical equipment.\ \ Rabies vaccination or proof of adequate titer required.\ \ Repetitive pipetting tasks.
