Position is Located in Stillwater, OK

Purpose of the Job

This position is responsible for performing daily mechanical, metallurgical and chemical test activities for aerospace products. This position will also assist with the operation of waste water, pretreatment and purified water systems.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates micro-hardness of metals and coatings

  • Preparation of test specimens and microscopic metallography of test specimens

  • Perform tensile testing of prepared metal samples

  • Perform hydrogen porosity testing

  • Determine etch rates and coating weights of various metals in applicable solutions

  • Perform salt spray corrosion testing according to ASTM B117

  • Perform and analyze chemical solutions by titrations

  • Prepare volumetric standards

  • Control processing solutions based on testing results

  • Perform analytical analysis of chemical solutions using instrumentation

  • Track, order and issue samples for testing purposes

  • Perform calibration of various process related instruments

  • Assist operations of waste water pre-treatment and purified water systems

  • Maintain computer databases

  • Assist in chemical tank maintenance

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management

  • Work in a safe manner following safety guidelines and policies

  • Contribute to 5S and lean manufacturing processes (continuous improvement) including Kaizen events.

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

    *This is a safety sensitive position.

    Education:

  • High School Diploma, required

  • Associates degree in Chemistry, preferred

    Experience:

  • 3 years in related manufacturing laboratory and testing experience, preferred

  • Must possess a good working knowledge of Chemistry and Metallography and be able to perform the essential functions of the job

  • Must have good reporting and computer skills including Microsoft Office software and database experience

  • Must be willing and capable to obtain waste water license from the State of Oklahoma, if required

  • Must complete and perform requirements of Hazwoper, RCRA, and OSHA required training

  • Must be able to wear an air purifying respirator as necessary

  • Familiarity with Boeing and ASTM specifications, a plus

  • Must possess a working understanding of hydrogen embrittlement

  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

  • Very good organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Must enjoy working in a team environment and be willing to accommodate flexible working schedules, including shift work

  • Must be able to demonstrate safe work habits following safety guidelines, policies and procedures

  • Work under minimal supervision while handling multiple job requirements

  • Be able to regularly handle items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally handle items weighing up to 55 pounds

  • Good manual dexterity with the ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time in a repetitive manufacturing environment

  • Participate in a cross training and cross functioning team environment

  • Pass visual and physical exams if required
