JOB SPECIFICS

Reporting to the Director of Community Corrections, the Division Manager of Community Corrections oversees all administrative aspects of a major division of the Community Corrections Department. Prepares and administers the division budget, oversees, evaluates and improves department operations and manages division staff.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE :

SELECTION TECHNIQUE : Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

HOURS / DAYS : 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE : $108,971.20 - $148,928.00 Annually

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Community Corrections, the Division Manager of Community Corrections oversees all administrative aspects of a major division of the Community Corrections Department. Prepares and administers the division budget, oversees, evaluates and improves department operations and manages division staff.

EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This job requires a Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, public administration, sociology, psychology, social work, or a related behavioral science field of study and five years' experience in Community Corrections or a related field, and two of years of supervisory experience; 50% of the experience must be in a probation and/or parole setting. Equivalent education and experience may be considered. Completion of a graduate degree in criminal justice, public administration, behavioral science, or a related field of study may be substituted for one year of full time paid experience in a corrections organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee programs within a major division within Community Corrections Department:

• Research, select and recommend programs for children and families at risk;

• Make hiring recommendations to the Director.

• Assist the Deputy Director in managing contracts;

• Direct implementation of new programs and services offered;

• Collaborate with other departments, agencies or service organizations to assess service needs;

• Evaluate and monitor current services delivery in division;

• Recommend legislative changes in division to the Director.

Manage division staff:

• Lead the division management team;

• Provide work direction and guidance to staff;

• Interpret policies and regulations for staff;

• Communicate changes in processes, services or programs;

• Ensure staff compliance with federal, state and local standards;

• Develop and facilitate staff training

• Prepare and conduct performance reviews

Evaluate division operations:

• Prepare statistical and narrative reports that address issues such as new service levels, trends in services offered, or how effective current programs and services are;

• Identifies divisional process improvements, such as work flow, case flow, information systems, and tools or equipment to perform tasks; and

• Remain current on legislative changes that affect department services and operations

Administer division budget:

• Project expenditures and prepare the annual divisional budget for the Director's approval;

• Monitor expenses and revenue;

• Identify ways to maximize revenue.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Serve as a media contact for division matters.

Perform the duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Director of Community Corrections in the Deputy's absence

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work performed is sedentary (sitting or standing) in nature and typically within the Government Center, satellite offices or program sites. Lifting requirement of up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, calculator, telephone, copier/scanner/fax machine. Work interruptions are frequent. There is some risk involved in dealing with people who may be emotionally charged.

Additional physical and/or mental requirements that occur may not be listed above, but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.

Must have own means of reliable transportation for business purposes. Individuals operating a motor vehicle for County business must possess a valid driver's license.
