JOB REQUIREMENTS: Looking for a qualified, loving infant room teacher. Must have infant/toddler credential to lead a pyramid model-based infant room. This is a full-time position with benefit package. RESPONSIBILITIES: Establish and maintain a safe and healthy day care environment through room arrangement and organization. Enhance child\'s physical and intellectual competence by providing a balance between child/teacher-initiated activities, quiet/active opportunities and small/large motor play. Plan and implement an integrated curriculum and encourage a multi-choice, pressure free, hands on environment. Promote hands-on activities, self-esteem, cultural diversity, and creative expression. Establish a semi-structured setting with smooth transition periods while allowing flexibility. Establish positive and productive relationships with children and families. Supervise and encourage children with positive guidance and techniques. Ensure smooth program operation that is responsive to participant needs. Maintain a commitment to professionalism and quality programming for children by promoting the YMCA mission and values. Support and supervise assistants and volunteers assigned to your room. Attend to all state licensing regulations as well as YMCA quality standards. Adhere to OSHA standards and guidelines. Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans. Communicate with children\'s parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues. Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered. Maintain a safe play environment. Observe and monitor children\'s play activities. Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas. Perform housekeeping duties, such as laundry, cleaning, dish washing, and changing of linens. Sanitize toys and play equipment. Support children\'s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts. Regulate children\'s rest periods. Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas. Assist in preparing food and serving meals and refreshments to children. Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs. Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, and making phone calls. Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Must have infant toddler credential. Position requires meeting the qualifications for Child Care Teacher under DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Day Care Centers. COMPETENCIES: This position requires creativity, flexibility, high energy levels, patience, strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated success as a leader and a team player. You must be able to observe/evaluate groups of children by sight, sound, and active interaction. You must be able to easily move through all areas of the child care rooms and communicate effectively verbally and in written form with children and adults. You must be able to routinely lift, carry and load equipment, furnishings, and program supplies (up to 50 pounds). You must exhibit the Y core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring.
