JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 21186 JOB TITLE: Accountant II TTC Title and Code: Accountant II (FN002) FTE: 100% Principal Work Location: UW-Stevens Point Main Campus Supervisor: Financial Manager POSITION SUMMARY: The Accountant II works under the supervision of the Financial Manager in Accounting Services and is responsible for processing financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of recording and reporting the financial transactions of many business units across campus. This position is responsible for preparing financial analyses and reports for campus management, UW System Administration, and State of Wisconsin Agencies using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Accountants prepare complex journal entries, advanced account reconciliations, and maintain financial records utilizing the financial systems at UW-Stevens Point. Additional responsibilities include preparing and reviewing financial reports and assisting units within Student Affairs, Wausau and Marshfield Branch Campuses, and University College with budgeting as well as proposing process improvements and implementing audit recommendations. In lieu of an associate degree, equivalent professional work experience will be considered. -Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) -Experience utilizing integrated financial systems, financial reporting tools & Microsoft Office -Strong verbal and written communication skills -Strong attention to detail -Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports and account reconciliations Preferred Qualifications -Bachelors degree in business administration or accounting -2 years of professional work experience in a financial position in higher education -Knowledge of governmental (fund) accounting -Ability to interpret policies and regulations -Comprehensive knowledge of financial reports and statements -Advanced Excel skills and an ability to utilize advanced functions within excel to perform complex data analysis and reconciliations -Experience with PeopleSoft, Workday, or similar financial management system ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: www.careers.wisconsin.edu
