JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 20720 Position Title: Academic Program Specialist TTC Title and Code: Academic Program Specialist (AE010 FTE: 100% Principal Work Location: UW-Stevens Point Main Campus, College of Professional Studies Supervisor: Dr. Lynda Fernholz, Assistant Dean, School of Education Position Summary: This position serves as the Academic Program Specialist of the School of Education (SOE) Graduate Programs office. This position requires a self-motivated individual and an ability to work with very limited to no supervision. A high level of confidentiality, sound judgement, and strong public relations skills are required. The Academic Program Specialist is essential to the effective administration of the two thriving graduate programs: Masters of Science in Education (MSE) and Doctor in Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Sustainability. Additionally, this position will also support the mission of preparing our students for a diverse and inclusive world. The Academic Program Specialist acts as an office manager, assuming responsibility for the initiation, implementation, and coordination of all administrative and office procedures for the SOE Graduate Office. The Academic Program Specialist is also responsible for evaluating processes and policies as part of the continuous improvement of SOE Graduate Office. As part of the evaluation duties, the Academic Program Specialist has the authority to identify the need for new and revised policies, recommend new policies, and implement new procedures. The Academic Program Specialist will be responsible for budget oversight in the SOE graduate programs office. This involves managing and monitoring the financial aspects of the programs within the graduate school. This role is essential to ensure that financial resources are allocated appropriately, expenses are controlled, and financial goals are met. The Academic Program Specialist will oversees and directs the work of the SOE Graduate Office staff, including the Administrative Assistant, temporary staff, graduate assistants, students, and/or work-study personnel. The Academic Program Specialist leads and directs the SOE Graduate Office team to ensure that the needs of the SOE Graduate Programs are met. The Academic Program Specialist will oversee the hiring and training of SOE Graduate Office hires, coordinate office coverage, direct SOE Graduate Office employee work, evaluate office employee performance, and perform other office personnel duties as necessary. This work also includes recruiting, interviewing, contracting, and on-boarding of new staff. Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:45am-4:30pm. Demonstrated experience in working accurately with strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Ability to work independently, plan and organize complex tasks, problem solve, establish priorities, and complete multiple concurrent tasks. Preferred Qualifications Professional experience relating to the duties of the position, including admissions processing, transcript reading/processing, etc. Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize new sys em software. Proficiency in Canvas and/or Zoom to assist in online sessions and seminars. Ability to work with diverse stakeholders in a professional manner.
