General Dynamics Land Systems Software Test Staff Engineer in Sterling Heights, Michigan

OVERVIEW The Software Test Engineer will design, develop, and execute SW regression test procedures for military ground vehicles. The primary focus is to support SW regression testing for both internal and external SW releases. Secondary focus is to support overall vehicle level system regression testing. The testing will be done using virtual and HW test environments up to, and including, testing on the vehicle. This is a Hybrid position within our Engineering organization. This role allows the employee to work offsite but also requires onsite work as needed. This position requires the employee to be onsite up to 80%. This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance). RESPONSIBILITIES Developing testing plans/procedures. Carrying out software testing. Creating reports on the software's performance. Meeting with development managers to discuss software specifications and controls. Using the software as intended to analyze its functional properties. Designing manual and automated test procedures to evaluate each software product. Building, coding, and implementing software evaluation test programs. Reviewing software requirements and preparing test scenarios. Executing tests on software usability. Analyzing test results on database impacts, errors or bugs, and usability. Preparing reports on all aspects related to the software testing carried out and reporting to the design team. Develop test that check the software's management of error states and the recovery of the SW from error states. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or computer science. 5+ years of demonstrated experience in embedded SW test. This includes demonstrated work experience in unit, static, and SW regression testing and test tools. Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems. Knowledgeable in one or more RT Linux operating systems. Ability to write complex SW test procedures that include boundary condition and negative case testing. Knowledgeable in one or more SW testing suites. Knowledgeable is systems design and systems test are a plus. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience working on ground combat/automotive vehicles desired. This position may require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles. Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings and overtime is required. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required. Ability to work independently. Active member of one or more Agile development projects.
