Job Description

Responsible for a program within the Career Services department. Facilitates positive working relationships between employers and the university community including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Maintains a working knowledge of Tarleton's various degree programs as a means of educating future employers on Tarleton's product. Provides assistance in budget planning, strategic planning, goal setting, monthly and annual reports. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) This is an in-office position located at the Stephenville Campus. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate May be required to work some non-traditional work hours including evenings and/or weekends. Travel is required. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.

Responsibilities:45% Provide Career Services Programming on assigned Stephenville campus and instructional locations. Career development to include resume building, mock interviews, business etiquette dinner, professionalism, interviewing, online presence and other topics. Engagement will happen through class presentations, one-on-one appointments, groups, workshops, guest speakers and online meetings. Participates in programs at the Stephenville campuses and all instructional sites coordinated by Career Services. Including, but not limited to, workshops, employer seminars, job fairs, and meetings within and outside of Career Services, university committees, and class presentations. Develops, coordinates, and/or fulfills objectives related to the implementation of new programs, workshops and services to the Stephenville campuses and all instructional sites

25% Leadership/Administrative/Support: Serves as primary administrator of career services programs to their assigned location or academic unit. Maintains a working knowledge of Tarleton's various degree programs as a means of educating future employers on Tarleton's Graduate profile. Provides assistance in budget planning, strategic planning, goal setting, monthly and annual reports. Coordinates marketing efforts with designated Career Services staff. Attends administrative staff meetings on and off-campus as well conferences and workshops regarding career planning and job search as funds are available. Assists leadership of Career Services and other staff with special projects. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

30% Community Outreach: Facilitates positive working relationships between employers and the University community including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Work with these individuals to improve relations, services, and to also develop and track new full-time and part-time opportunities. Cultivates new employment contacts to expand opportunities for job placement, internships, and other levels of employer engagement. Coordinate with the Job Locator and Development Coordinator for Federal Work Study JLD tracking of student wages, positions and employer relationship development. Liaisons for the Career Services department to employers in Stephenville campuses and all instructional sites. Attend employment events to represent Career Services as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of work experience in corporate/industry, university career services environment, or comparable setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Demonstrated exceptional organization, written, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, demonstrate exceptional time management skills, and work independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple, ongoing programs and services.

Other Requirements:Ability to work non-traditional work hours including evenings or weekends. Ability to accommodate significant travel between work venues.
