Job Description
The Academic Advisor III, under the direction of the Director of Student Development and Mentoring within University College, plays a pivotal role in validating a new automation tool for college readiness assessment and placement, ensuring the insights generated are effectively integrated into course content, faculty training, and student placement decisions. Additionally, the role ensures compliance with TSI state requirements in alignment with THECB policies and directives.
Complies with all state, system, and university policies, regulations, rules, procedures, guidelines, and directives in a timely manner and adheres to confidentiality policies (FERPA). Performs other duties as assigned.
This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, TX. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, or as work requirements indicate. Requires the ability to work remotely, at the University's discretion.
This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent on funding availability and program needs.
Responsibilities:
Technology (70%): The TSI Specialist will oversee the implementation and validation of new automation processes to evaluate student records to help create a new Multiple Measures Assessment (MMA) protocol. By coordinating the use of this automation, the Specialist will ensure that data-driven insights are consistently and equitably applied, for placement of students in math and English courses. In addition, the TSI Specialist will integrate student success data into faculty training programs, helping educators refine their instructional practices based on real-time analysis of student performance trends.
TSI Compliance and Placement (20%): under the supervision of the Director of Student Development and Mentoring and in collaboration with the TSI Program Coordinator, this position will assist with TSI placement and advising of new and current students and TSI consultation of prospective undergraduate students. This position will also assist with coordinating activities and initiatives related to specialized TSI placement and advising.
Student Success and Retention (10%): assists in monitoring academic progress and implements intervention strategies for TSI-impacted students in their TSI-related coursework using EAB alerts and documents all related outreach in open cases and notes. Coordinates with the Student Retention office for any additional reports, case management, and use of other platforms for mass student communication and feedback.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of experience in academic advising, academic technology, or other related academic support roles with relevant experiences in higher education.
A master’s degree in a related field can substitute for two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DegreeWorks, EAB, BANNER, Imaging, evaluating HS and college transcripts, and THECB policies and procedures related to TSI.
Salary:
