Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania Preschool Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher State College in State College, Pennsylvania

Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization providing programs and services to individuals with and without disabilities.

Our Child Development Center is looking to hire a Preschool Lead Teacher II and an Assistant Teacher to provide classroom instruction. Our staff is a caring and closely knit group. Please consider joining our team!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PRESCHOOL LEAD TEACHER II or ASSISTANT TEACHER

  • Meet one of the following educational requirements:

(1) A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field with 1 year experience with children.

(2) A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.

(3) An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.

(4) An associate's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.

(5) HS diploma, or GED, and 5 years' work experience with children required.

  • Prior experience in working with special needs children (ages birth to 8) preferred.
  • Current valid PA drivers license and acceptable driving record obtained through the PA Department of Transportation required (Lead Teacher only).
  • Acceptable Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse and Department of Human Services FBI clearances required.
  • Acceptable results from the National Sexual Offenders Registry required.
  • Passing of physical examination and TB required.

JOB SUMMARY-PRESCHOOL LEAD TEACHER II , ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Lead Teacher II is responsible for developing and implementing an on-going educational program that contributes to the care, growth, and development of the children at an assigned classroom which includes:

(1) Planning and implementing daily program activities.

(2) Coordinating activities of assistant group supervisors and aides.

(3) Assisting the director with designated activities.

JOB SUMMARY-PRESCHOOL ASSISTANT TEACHER, ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Plan learning activities within established classroom centers and with the Lead Teacher.

  2. Implement prepared lessons and activities in small and large group settings throughout the program day.

  3. Assist students with tasks/activities to present or reinforce learning concepts.

  4. Assist student with managing all parts of the program day including: transitions (between activities, from parents, lining up, etc.), meals, toileting/diapering & washing hands, structured activities (circle time, small group, etc.), behavioral expectations (following classroom rules, individualized behavior plan, etc.), play & appropriate use of materials and equipment, clean-up and nap/rest time.

HOURS/BENEFITS PRESCHOOL LEAD TEACHER II, and ASSISTANT TEACHER:

The Preschool Lead Teacher II is a full-time position M-F 7:30 am-4 pm, 37.5 hours per week with one hour unpaid lunch. The hourly rate is $16. The Assistant Preschool Teacher is a full-time position M-F 8-5, 40 hours per week with one hour unpaid lunch. The hourly rate is $13.50. The positions comes with an excellent benefit package valued at an additional $6K per year (health, dental and vision coverage, retirement savings plan, paid time off, life and disability insurance.)
