Reference #: 5994822003 Maintain the software applications and systems that support Minitab's product development community with limited supervision. Deploy and monitor Minitab's product cloud infrastructure. Assist with the research and analysis of new tools. Help analyze, implement, and train developers on new systems to support the development environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Participate in meetings with decision makers, software engineers, and other development roles to define the need and requirements for new software development tools. - Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of development efforts and communicate the advantages and disadvantages of implementing such tools. - Assist in championing the adoption of new software development and IaC tools. - Participate in the review and analysis of the effectiveness of current software development tools. Make recommendations to improve use and end user efficiency. - Assist in developing and supporting the processes that result in productivity increases for Minitab software development teams. - Analyze the impact of implementing upgrades to software development environments and cloud infrastructure including coordinating and/or performing in-depth tests and end user reviews. - Participate in the processes involved in rolling out software upgrades to end users. - Manage user access to software development tools and environments. - Document and educate end users and new employees on newly implemented systems and tools. - Liaise with appropriate Operations and Development personnel in the procurement, implementation, support, and maintenance of software development tools. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Begin to develop an area of expertise as a first step toward developing into a community resource in a particular area. - Respond to and address critical issues with on-call availability up to one week every 2 months. EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline or equivalent experience. -  2 to 4 years of progressive commercial software development, DevOps, and/or Information Technology experience. -  A track record of successfully completing software related tasks on schedule. -  Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows. -  Working knowledge of a variety software development tools and environments. The following are also desirable: - Working knowledge of PowerShell, Python, or similar advanced scripting languages or related programming stack. -  Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms such as Terraform. - Experience with source control administration, continuous integration/build systems, project tracking software, Visual Studio development environment, and other commercial software development collaboration packages. - Experience in Information Technology, Software Development, and DevOps disciplines. - Experience giving technical presentations and providing formal technical training to software professionals. - Administrative experience in Microsoft Windows and Linux environments. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Ability to work well in a team of skilled software and IT professionals. - Ability to research and evaluate new software development tools as well as upgrades to current tools. - Ability to provide training on new technologies and products to the software development staff. - Strong communication skills and an outgoing personality that support effective interaction with software developers at all levels. - Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
