Job Description Summary
This is a key on site leadership position on the State College Operations Team. The Business Team Leader (BTL) is responsible for developing a vision and leading a portion of manufacturing operations, as well as serving as the site facilities leader. Drives full utilization of resources to meet scheduled production activities and achieve key organizational metrics. Oversees the daily shift activities in their assigned functional areas and works with team members to cultivate a winning attitude and creative work environment. Recognized as a lean practitioner, influences at the manager level on projects and initiatives for their defined area of responsibility, and develops operational plans annually to determine processes and procedures for execution within their defined area of responsibility. Leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business and is a recognized expert in a specialized field. This is an on-site position; no hybrid or remote candidates will be considered.

Our mission is to change the standard of care in surgical interventions with real-time visual guidance, giving surgeons the information needed to immediately make critical decisions. A critical part of this process is the design and manufacturing of ultrasound transducers. Located in beautiful Central Pennsylvania, home of Pennsylvania State University, the State College site is a Center of Excellence for GE HealthCare’s ultrasound transducer design and manufacturing. We offer a complete line of diagnostic medical ultrasound transducers to support a broad range of clinical applications including Surgery, Urology, Neurology, Radiology, Cardiology, Obstetrics, and Gynecology.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Manufacturing Leadership:
Leads compliance and environmental health and safety efforts in support of plant goals
Teach, train, coach and mentor area leaders in the use of Lean tools. Influence, communicate, and institutionalize a culture of simplification and standardization.
Works with NPI teams to transfer new processes and products into site, as well as develop new teams to meet product transfer and production ramp up timelines.
Tracks and drives key metrics including labor hour consumption, production output, ship complete on time, cost savings, NPI performance, and employee development and retention
Implements business unit objectives and department goals in their functional area
Completes employee performance reviews, drives individual & team goals, and provides ongoing coaching and support to maximize employee development, engagement, and performance
Establishes team goals that meet or exceed established quality standards
Works closely with Finance Manager and Plant Manager to develop and manage operational budget for their functional area
Facilities Leadership:
Point of contact for facilities issues, improvements, and planning. Ensure contractor safety compliance and project timelines are met.
Work with procurement on contracts and supply agreements as they pertain to construction, service, and up keep of the facility.
Responsible for partnering with site leaders and corporate resources to define the key value streams that will have the greatest impact on the business
Site Security Leader responsibilities may be added to overall responsibilities.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years manufacturing, supply chain, or leadership experience or High School diploma/GED and 10 years production or supply chain experience
Demonstrated experience in leading and implementing safety programs, processes, and training at the team, department, or factory level.
Proven experience managing facilities activities, including contractor negotiations, maintenance and renovation projects and schedules, equipment installation and qualifications, and creating KPIs for continuous improvement.
Strong understanding of Lean principles and concepts with proven results
Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams. Highly visible leadership required
Ability to successfully motivate and maintain high morale, employee involvement, safety, and teamwork
Demonstrated strong analytical and quantitative skills
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement best practices and deal with high levels of ambiguity
Desired Characteristics
MBA or Masters Degree
OMLP graduate
Six Sigma certifications
