We are seeking a self-motivated Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design and development in the medical device industry or similar regulated industry. The position will primarily support development of new innovative products but will also involve improvements to existing products and processes. Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings of machined and molded parts and assemblies

  • Produce product, tooling and equipment drawings or revise existing drawings from sketches, models and manual measurement of actual parts with limited instruction using computer aided design software

  • Work with design and process engineers to document prototype and production fixtures

  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to detect and correct discrepancies in drawings and design

  • Create "Bill of Materials" for assembly and schematic drawings

  • Create, edit and approve engineering changes, work instructions, and other documentation as required

  • Support transducer / part / process qualifications and V&V activities

  • Use and provide regular maintenance for 3D printers

  • Provide informal, formal and timely communication to managers and supervisors

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Associate of specialized technology degree (or similar) with 2 years mechanical drafting experience, OR 5 years mechanical drafting experience

  • Demonstrates an understanding of basic engineering and scientific principles

  • Skilled user of 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks (and/or Creo)

  • Microsoft Office software

  • Working knowledge of: Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T); Metrology and measuring equipment e.g. CMM, calipers, micrometers, etc.

  • Adept at prioritizing tasks and handling a dynamic and diverse workload

Desired Characteristics

  • Medical device industry experience

  • Engineering material properties; Basic machining operations (e.g. turning, milling, drilling, etc.) and tools

  • Energy and enthusiasm for each day’s effort

  • Ability to generate written communication that is clear and concise and lead a discussion among colleagues as well as provide formal presentations to management
