Role Description:

The VMI Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the Vendor Managed Inventory process to ensure optimal stock levels, improve supply chain efficiency, and enhance collaboration between key functional teams, and strong relations with Distributors and Commercial Partners. . This role involves strategic planning, data analysis, and relationship management to achieve effective inventory control and meet business objectives. The VMI Customer Operations Manager provides the strategic leadership and tactical guidance to the associates within this team and for Spirits customer service activities across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inventory Management:

  • DSI Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor DSI performance metrics, analyze data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvements. Continuously track inventory levels across various locations and ensure they align with predefined targets and thresholds. Generate and present reports on DSI performance highlighting key insights and recommendations.

  • Forecasting: Use historical data, sales trends, and market analysis to forecast inventory needs and adjust stock levels accordingly.

  • Replenishment: Coordinate with vendors to manage timely replenishment and avoid stock outs or overstock situations.

Partner Engagement:

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with key customers and business partners to gather input and feedback on DSI processes and performance.

  • Distributor Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key Distributors to facilitate effective VMI processes.

  • Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between key internal partners and Distributors, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Data Management: Analyze inventory data, sales patterns, and supply chain metrics to make informed decisions and optimize inventory management.

  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports on inventory performance, trends, and VMI outcomes to senior management and other partners.

  • critical metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (critical metrics) related to inventory turnover, stock levels, and supplier performance.

Process Improvement:

  • Find Opportunities: Identify areas for improvement in the VMI process and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Standard Methodologies: Research and apply industry best in class practices for VMI and inventory management.

  • Technology Utilization : Leverage technology and inventory management systems to streamline processes and improve accuracy.

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision to team of 5 planners Coordinate team tactical activities to meet core day-to-day business requirements.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key departmental contacts, including Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Logistics, and Finance

  • Proficient at making sound business trade-off recommendations across cost, service, and cashflow to arrive at appropriate business solutions.

  • Responsible for significant transportation spend, influenced through effective order management that drives truckload utilization and expedite requirements.

Role Complexity

  • Maintain, monitor, and influence key performance indicators across service, cost, and quality.

  • Work with distributors to ensure adherence to order guidelines, and coordinate activities where exceptions are required.

  • Play an active role in the fast-paced innovation agenda, ensuring the on-time delivery of new product and seasonal launches.

  • Where required, support customer exception processes such as quality issues, customer claims, and product transfers.

  • Represent Customer Operations in cross functional meetings to shape and influence key critical business processes, including innovation, systems, and logistics.

  • Actively drive continuous improvements and efficiencies across service, cost, and quality

  • Management of transportation spend below budgeted levels.

  • Engaged and highly impactful team focused on delivering against objectives and customer service.

  • Proactive issue management, communications, and actions to address potential service issues.

  • Active management and support for product innovations and discontinuations.

  • Drive continuous improvements in business processes and ensure appropriate alignment with other business units.

QUALIFICATIONS

Key Skills

  • Experience with Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) systems and process is required.

  • ERP order-to-cash experience, preferably within SAP

  • 3-5 years of experience in a supply chain field, preferably within a fast-paced CPG company

  • 4 year Bachelors Degree or equivalent in business management, supply chain, or related field relevant certifications (APICS, CPIM) is a plus.

  • Experience leading a team of direct reports, or equivalent demonstrated ability.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships and handle customer expectations.

  • Background and/or knowledge of order management systems and processes

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead key partners.

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills; Demonstrated ability to develop business solutions.

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to run multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
