Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Stamford, Connecticut

Description

Our client in the financial services industry, located in Stamford, is looking for a contract-to-hire, detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk. In this role, you will be tasked to handle various responsibilities including processing invoices, maintaining vendor payment instructions, and liaising with global teams. This opportunity offers a chance to apply your analytical skills in a fast-paced, paperless automated payables solution environment.

Responsibilities:

• Processing global operating expense invoices in multiple currencies using an automated payable solution, ensuring invoices are properly approved and paid in a timely manner.

• Allocating costs to specific cost centers, projects, and legal entities, including identification of costs to be capitalized vs expensed.

• Initiating payments such as printing checks, producing ACH batches, and initiating wire transfers in both USD and foreign currencies.

• Onboarding vendors appropriately by liaising with the global onboarding team and ensuring vendor information is maintained.

• Maintaining vendor payment instructions while adhering to company policies regarding changes in payment instructions.

• Reconciling vendor statements, researching and correcting discrepancies, and responding to all vendor inquiries.

• Responding to employee and vendor inquiries promptly and professionally.

• Identifying potential areas for improvement and efficiency.

• Assisting with other projects as required in the financial services sphere.

Requirements • Minimum of one year experience in a similar role within the Financial Services industry

• Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) processes and procedures

• Ability to use Microsoft Excel for data entry, analysis, and reporting

• Experience with Great Plains (GPAC) accounting software

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must adhere to strict confidentiality and data privacy standards

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred but not required

• Familiarity with financial regulations and accounting principles

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions

• Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills.
