The Front of the House Supervisor has an important role in establishing guests needs and expectations as they are the first point of contact for guests and conveying that information to their server. As a first point of contact for guests, a host should be high energy, have great people and communication skills, be organized, and have an attention for detail. The Supervisor may also be also responsible for: o Staff Scheduling o Setting up guests reservations o Organizing seating charts o Accommodating guests as they wait to be seated o Seating guests as tables become available o Making sure that servers are aware of guests allergies or food restrictions o Letting servers know if their guests are celebrating a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary o Making sure that restaurant staff are accomplishing their tasks o Handling staff complaints o Assisting with any guest complaints o Training staff o Creating schedules for staff members o Determining rules for the staff to follow o Establishing good customer service protocol o Creating a good restaurant flow o Maintaining clear communication between the back and front of the house staff o Overseeing front of house guest services o Ensuring the ideal guest experience o Reporting progress and issues back to the Managing Director o Inform guests about promotions or events, ensure smooth turnover to service staff o Protect company image by ensuring everyone practices sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies. o Help in server duties such as setting tables and refilling drinks. o Ability to provide discounts and or voids. o Compute and receive payments. o Monitor the whole area and ensure the comfort of every guest. o Setting up guests reservations
