St. Petersburg is our primary softgel development and manufacturing facility in North America with a capacity of 18 billion capsules per year. The featured RP Scherer softgel technology is a proven oral drug delivery solution to enhance bioavailability of poorly soluble Rx and OTC drug candidates. Non-gelatin based OptiShell® and Vegicaps® capsules expand the range of molecules into softgel, ideal for challenging fill formulation. Within the Catalent network, we offer a broad range of integrated formulation.

Rotating 12 hour shifts 7:30pm-7:30am

The Crib Mechanic manufactures softgels by operating an Encapsulation Machine and completing batch paperwork according to Standard Operating Procedures and applying current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The Crib Mechanic supports the encapsulation process by assisting the Encapsulation Operators during changeovers and equipment start-up. Provides the necessary parts and equipment according to the production schedule requirements. Performs work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and applies current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

The Role

• Completes documentation including records and logbooks.

• Inspects and prepares Encapsulation changeover parts.

• Assists in Encapsulation Machine changeovers.

• Rebuilds, stores, cleans and inspects Encapsulation equipment and parts.

• Maintains stock in the Crib area. Monitors and replenishes solvents and lubricants, as required.

• Performs required maintenance or adjustments to equipment. Performs work according to safety policies and practices related to the position.

• Handles non-hazardous, hazardous and DEA waste.

• Maintains a clean work area.

• Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

• High School diploma or equivalent required.

• Visual acuity to inspect capsules for quality as they are being produced and for making detailed adjustments to the equipment.

• Previous manufacturing experience and work in a GMP regulated industry preferred.

• Successful completion of Lung Capacity test and ability to wear respirator.

• Ability to interpret and perform work against a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Individual may be required to sit intermittently, stand regularly, walk regularly and consistently lift to 50 pounds; no lifting greater than 44.09 pounds without assistance, for a work period of up to 12-hours.

• Ability to push and/or pull on average 500 kg (approximately 1,100 pounds).

• Vision requirements include ability to differentiate color (Pass the Ishihara Color Vision Screening) and obtain 20/30 acuity in both far and near vision with or without corrective lenses. For Catalent’s in-house screening, the acceptable score is to identify at least 4 of 6 numbers in the circles.

• Must be able to withstand heights, climb ladder, and lift 0-50 lbs. walk, stand, sit, kneel, lay to perform repair.
