The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Forensic Services within the Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) division of agency.
The Forensics Services campus in St. Peter is comprised of the Forensic Mental Health Program and the Forensic Nursing Home. Forensics Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
Serve as a critical support team member to the Forensic Evaluation Department. This role has direct department and statewide impact in serving the Minnesota Court system effectively and to serve critical risk assessment services in Direct Care & Treatment - Forensic Services, under limited supervision.
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Review and process court orders in a variety of data collection programs to assist with case management and assignment of forensic evaluations
Request, manage and review medical records with the use of a court order or release of information
Contact and coordinate evaluations with individuals in the community to ensure forensic evaluations are conducted as ordered
Correspond with interested parties and stakeholders of the courts regarding forensic evaluations and using problem-solving strategies to resolve potential coordination issues
Provide psychometric services upon request by the Forensic Examiners which includes test administration and scoring of highly technical forensic instruments for individuals being served at the Forensic Services or by the Forensic Network
Complete complex chart reviews of cases and ensure timely report submission to the court
Organize, code and enter data into databases to facilitate its retrieval, manipulation, and analysis
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify, the candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the following areas:
Collecting, organizing, analyzing and summarizing data
Drafting and/or issuing reports, memos or other formal work documents
Using electronic systems to enter, track and query data/information
Preferred Qualifications
Background in psychology or social work
Experience working with medical records
Researching discovery information and conducting collateral interviews
Previous experience with individuals with diverse backgrounds in a correctional/forensic setting
