Custodial Supervisor (Evening Shift) Custodial and Support Services Description JOB SUMMARY: To provide custodial services for the college's institutional buildings, and to provide work direction to the custodial team, in order to provide a clean living and work/academic environment for students, faculty, and staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Receives work distribution, extra assignments, and other departmental communiques from manager or assistant manager and discusses details to minimize questions about what is to be done. Performs all custodial duties. Supervise cleaning services in a thorough and regular manner in order to meet established institutional cleaning and sanitary requirements. Reaching and stretching duties; surface and high dusting, washing windows and walls, cleaning blackboards. Heavy chemical and cleaning solvent duties: cleaning showers and restrooms. Environment and bio-hazardous duties: removing trash (recyclables) and cleaning receptacles, clean-up of blood and body fluid spills. Continuous twisting and turning duties: sweeping and mopping stairwells. Continuous standing, stooping, and lifting duties: vacuuming floors, vacuuming and arranging furniture, cleaning restrooms. Performs management activities to ensure uniform work direction, quality control of work completed by team members, and consistent communication between custodians, faculty, residence hall staff, department heads. Daily communication with team members to assign extra duties when needed and discuss building maintenance and equipment problems, supply requests, and cleaning priorities. Redirecting employees and student workers when satisfactory work progress is not maintained. Documenting student employee attendance, feedback for student and staff performance reviews and routine vacuum maintenance and safety checks. Training new employees and student workers monitoring work quality of team members. Monitoring supply inventory and ensuring buildings are properly stocked with supplies. Ensures all containers and chemicals are properly labeled. Monitors daily maintenance and reports to management custodial equipment. Provides minor repairs and service to equipment as needed. Delivery of supplies and equipment allocation. Require and request additional training as needed. Provide a good work ethic example to follow. Your position has been designated as weather- or emergency-essential. In the event of a closure of the College, it is vital that you report to work only if contacted by your supervisor. You will receive regular pay for the hours normally scheduled to work that day plus your overtime rate at 1 times your regular rate for the actual hours worked during the closing. All other duties as assigned. Prerequisites MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school degree or equivalent experience. Must have a good working knowledge of cleaning procedures, departmental policies, and building floor plans. Must be able to demonstrate leadership and communication skills necessary to provide support and work direction to others. Working knowledge of all standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to dust and other airborne contaminates. Exposure to and handling of cleaning solvents and chemicals. Seasonal exposure to extreme heat, humidity and cold. Frequent lifting and moving of equipment, furniture, and garbage bags of 10 to 30 pounds. Exposure to sharps, biohazard and other unsanitary conditions. Exposure to extensive repetitive motion activities including gripping broom, mop, squeegee and machine handles; bending, stooping, lifting, stretching, twisting and vacuuming.
