Gustavus Adolphus College Area Coordinator for Leadership and Programming in St. Peter, Minnesota

Area Coordinator for Leadership and Programming Residential Life Description JOB SUMMARY: This position serves on the Residential Life team to coordinate intentional leadership opportunities and support all aspects of the residential experience at Gustavus. This is a live on-campus position, housing is provided. Employment Type: Full-time (1.0 FTE), Exempt, Benefits-Eligible. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Training and Development Collegiate Fellow Program Develop, design, and coordinate the recruitment, selection, and assessment processes for all student staff including Collegiate Fellows, returning Collegiate Fellows, Community Coordinators, and summer Collegiate Fellows. Develop, design, and implement all student staff training and development. Develop the Community Coordinator and returning CF positions to enhance leadership opportunities for experienced staff members. Hall Council Program Advise the Residence Hall Association. Design and implement a comprehensive personal/professional development plan for volunteer leaders. Facilitate relationship between Hall Councils and Student Senate. Intentional Service Learning Houses (ILS) Houses Management Coordinate the recruitment and selection process for ILS housing. Serve as the point of contact for ILS residents, conduct semi-annual ILS House resident meetings, and meet monthly with the ILS leaders. Manage facilities issues/concerns of ILS houses and perform health and safety checks and closing checks of ILS houses as appropriate. Summer Housing Coordinate the administrative functions of the summer residence halls. Facilitate the development of programs and strategies aligned with the Residential Learning Plan that will assist students in developing a sense of belonging, acquiring knowledge, developing integrity and assuming self-responsibility. Programming Create, implement, and evaluate a Residential Life programming model with an emphasis on building community and creating a sense of belonging Create, implement, and evaluate departmental programming efforts, including but not limited to, Fall SNL, Sibling Sleepover, ResLife ROMP, and passive educational programming. Administration Coordinate and assign scheduling for student staff over college break periods. Communicate college objectives, policies, rules and regulations to students. Assist in the formation of policies that govern residential life; assist students in understanding policies established for community living; work with staff in dealing with inappropriate behavior they encounter and in developing programs to address those problems; and adjudicate cases through the campus conduct process. Provide mentorship and be an available resource to all students with needs related to on-campus living. Promote the safety of students, student property and the property of the College. Participate in campus-wide on-call rotation. All other duties as assigned. Prerequisites MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience Experience working in a residential life program Experience in Higher Education, preferred WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This is a live on-campus position Evening and weekend commitments required This position has been designated as weather- or emergency-essential. In the event of a closure of the College, it is vital that you report to work if scheduled. In addition, as a member of the Essential Weather Employee Team, you may be asked to work beyond your normal hours to ensure coverage within your department/office.
