Salvation Army Youth and Events Assistant in St. Paul, Minnesota

Position Summary The Salvation Army St. Paul Eastside Corps is "doing the most good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management, food, clothing, utility, rent, housing support, and connections to community partners. The Youth and Events Assistant supports the volunteer life cycle and provides clerical and administrative support. The Assistant also supports youth programming and seasonal fundraising efforts by assisting with the management of paid and volunteer bell ringers. $18.00/hour, 20 hours/week 1019 Payne Ave, St. Paul, MN 55130 Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Volunteer Processing & Training (25%): Oversee the entire volunteer life cycle, including processing applications, scheduling, conducting training, and assigning placement. Volunteer Support (20%): Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers, fostering a welcoming environment and addressing questions, concerns, or scheduling issues. Seasonal Support (20%): Assist with seasonal and special events, including onboarding, scheduling, and hour tracking for Christmas Red Kettle Campaign volunteers and employees. Administrative Support (10%): Provide administrative and clerical assistance. Scheduling (10%): Coordinate volunteer schedules, matching availability and skills with organizational needs. Youth Program Assistance (10%): Provide assistance and support during youth program events, engaging volunteers and participants to ensure activities run smoothly. Volunteer Documentation (5%): Maintain accurate volunteer participation, performance, and attendance records. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Previous non-profit experience preferred. Must pass background checks. Valid driver's license and meet MVR requirements preferred. Competencies Flexible interpersonal and communication skills. High level of honor in dealing with confidential information. Works with integrity, valuing honesty, and diligence. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment. Working Conditions A variety of work, including sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and working on a computer. Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Must communicate clearly with colleagues, volunteers, and participants. Standard business hours with occasional evenings and weekends, especially during the Christmas Kettle Campaign. Must be able to lift 20 pounds occasionally. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Travel Requirements May occasionally drive agency vehicle locally to support the mission if MVR check cleared.
