The position will have the option of teleworking up to two (2) days per week. We are currently in a Hybrid work environment.
This position supports the Department of Public Safety (DPS) employees whose work ensures the safety of the citizens of Minnesota and beyond. DPS is a growing, dynamic agency which allows the position to be creative in meeting new challenges.
The Workers Compensation Coordinator position will manage and administer the agency’s workers compensation program for the Department of Public Safety (DPS). This includes timely and accurate reporting, root cause analysis, IOD pay, return to work, annual reporting, and coordination with ADA and payroll. The position will work with Risk Management claim specialists and attorneys and obtain settlement authority from DPS division heads. The position will also assist with leave management, duty disability, and will collaborate with the DPS safety director.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of work experience in human resources or a related field
OR
Three (3) years of administrative supporting human resources or a related field
Work experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with Minnesota Workers' Compensation Laws, Statutes, Rules, and regulations
Knowledge of medical and legal terminology related to the work
Experience working with spreadsheets, word processing, and database management systems
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with state systems (e.g., iRISK, SEMA4, OBIEE)
Experience with ADA-AA, FMLA management
Able to problem-solve, initiate process improvements and document processes
Ability to resolve conflict
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
