The City of Saint Paul is hiring Heavy Truck Mechanics and Vehicle Technicians to perform skilled labor in the repair and maintenance of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic power systems. Here s what you can expect to do: Services, repairs, and maintains City vehicles and equipment. Operates a variety of testing devices to determine nature and extent of malfunction or damage. Inspects, diagnoses, services, and repairs multiplex electrical, hydraulic pump, and air-conditioning systems. Uses various computerized diagnostic equipment and software applications. Utilizes shop tools and welders to repair and fabricate mounts, hangers, containers, and related units for holding, storing, and mounting tools and equipment. Uses hand tools, power tools, and related equipment to maintain and/or repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic power systems. Documents and records all maintenance, repairs, parts, labor costs, and other related information in electronic fleet information systems. Information Specific to these Positions: There are currently vacancies within the Saint Paul Fleet Services Division and the Saint Paul Fire Department. Fleet Services: Fleet Services is located at the Dale Street facility with options for repairing both light/heavy duty vehicles and equipment. For positions with Fleet Services, there is opportunity to work a ten hour shift four days a week, as well as opportunities to earn voluntary overtime. Saint Paul Fire Department: The Saint Paul Fire Department Public Safety Garage is located at 1683 Energy Park Drive. This position will work with Fire Ladders, Engines, Squads and Ambulances. Work schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm with opportunities to work optional overtime.
