This position serves our partners at the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). The MNIT DEED team provides technical support to help improve employment conditions in Minnesota. The team supports work that improves workforce and community development, increases business recruitment, and helps Minnesota small businesses to expand into international trade.
Salesforce is a third-party application with capacity to be used as an application development platform. Complex configuration of native functionality, integrated add-ons, and related tools is considered declarative application development. The production of efficient, stable, maintainable, manageable, and secure declarative applications requires deep and thorough understanding not only of the techniques and processes related to the tool, but also of standard application development practices and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) principles and processes. The composite developer is responsible for developing applications that enable business to take advantage of advanced functionalities available in Salesforce. The developer is responsible for researching other 3rd party tools, evaluating suitability for integration with Salesforce, and implementing them to improve Salesforce native functionality.
In particular, a Salesforce software developer is responsible for understanding business problems, designing, developing, configuring, testing, and deploying software to provide the solution. Software developers write the code to produce applications that provide measurable business value. Developers most often use Agile techniques and are a part of a larger, cross-functional team. Software developers should have a passion for learning new languages/technologies and staying on top of the technology wave. The Salesforce software developer works closely with Architects, Salesforce Administrators, APEX Code Developers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Subject Matter Experts and Key Stakeholders to deliver Salesforce applications that address documented business requirements that operate within design specifications. The Salesforce Administrator Senior builds applications in accordance with MNIT Software Development Life Cycle and follows standard application development best practices. The Salesforce software developer is considered to be an expert by maintaining and building competency by taking the sole role in identifying elements of highly complex and large-scale projects. Senior level participation and support of peer code reviews, technical walkthroughs, cross-training, mentorship and other knowledge transfer activities are expected.

Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of IT related experience in Salesforce application development.
Experience must include:
Experience and the ability to manage extensive application development portfolios.
Experience and extensive technical knowledge or Salesforce Automation, Apex development, Flows, and Omnistudio.
Experience and the ability to mentor and lead junior technical developers to design, build, and implement technical solutions for various business needs.
Experience using Salesforce to interacts with APIs.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of business continuation and disaster recovery.
Experience with Git and GitHub.
Experience configuring Auth Providers using OAuth2 and Open ID Connect.
Experience with Salesforce Omnichannel and Service Cloud Voice using AWS Connect.
Experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions.
Experience with Salesforce Shield.
