Job Description
General Purpose
Generate and execute the logistics initiative to achieve an overarching logistics strategy. Support logistics leaders at seven ice cream plant logistics networks, manage multiple logistics initiatives, and provide leadership to achieve logistics performance targets. Collaborate with general manager(s) and functional leadership and other applicable groups to optimize and ensure service levels and cost-effective transportation, storage, and distribution of goods. Provide direction to the corporate logistics team members, who procure 3PL carriers and warehouses. Ensure the accurate recording of all transactions within DFA's systems to ensure reporting accuracy. Apply a proactive approach and attention to detail to new products rollouts, on-time project implementation, and translate strategy to by business initiatives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a domestic US logistics strategy for DFAs ice cream; lead strategy execution and support operations leaders in 7 ice cream plants. This network includes a number of third-party logistics (3PLs) warehouses and sizeable 3PL transportation providers.
Identify and implement initiatives that deliver differentiators resulting in increased service levels and performance with our customers. Ensure that customer requirements are evaluated and prioritized, and optimal logistics solutions are developed and deployed.
Ensure the effectiveness of S&OP and S&OE processes that lead to effective business planning processes at each ice cream location, working with corporate Supply Chain Optimization managers.
Recommend and implement initiatives for technology use advancements and ensure that systems and processes are used correctly, driving efficiencies where required.
Partner with logistics leaders, corporate procurement, finance, and the business stakeholders in developing the logistics budget.
Develop key communication reports and processes and manage key business metrics, strongly influencing continuous improvement and adherence to the process.
Ensure corporate transportation purchasing and transportation service standards are met.
Manage external relationships and partner communications, and support discussions on logistics activities for the ice cream group.
Develop supplier compliance metrics to assess adherence to financial and service KPIs.
Champion logistics talent development; focus on maximizing the ability, potential and contributions of self and others. Foster an environment where people can excel through developing, coaching and rewarding performance.
Deliver results and set high goals for personal achievement, logistics teams, and organizational success measure success against the best internal and external benchmarks.

Requirements
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
10 or more years of progressively more responsible positions in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related experience, coupled with 5+ years of people management experience
Budget and cost management experience
Experience leading projects and change management efforts
Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, and economics of distribution and logistics
Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
Strong analytical skills
Able to identify problems, take appropriate steps to find solutions, and implement recommended solutions
Able to promote a team environment
Able to elicit cooperation from variety of sources, including upper management, plant locations, and others
