*This position requires working on site 3-5 days per week, depending on business need.

This position exists to support Office of Inspector General (OIG) Legal Counsel’s Office in timely completion of work related to background studies, licensing, and program integrity and oversight.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support to the OIG legal unit.

  • Assist with the analysis and processing of expungement orders and petitions.

  • Assist with appeals work, reconsiderations and completing data requests for multiple legal units.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year professional experience in legal operations work related to licensing or background studies, OR

Three (3) years advanced technical or paraprofessional experience in legal operations work related to licensing or background studies, OR

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or related field of study and two (2) years of advanced technical or paraprofessional experience.

AND

Experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to convey complex legal and procedural information.

  • Experience analyzing criminal court records.

  • Make independent judgments resulting in decisions that must stand up to administrative and/or judicial review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the Minnesota District Court system.

  • Working knowledge of administrative appeals processes.

  • Knowledge of Minnesota Rules and Statues pertaining to licensure and background studies by the Department of Human Services.

  • Computer and word-processing skills and have extensive experience managing the various databases used in the background study process.

  • Administrative experience to delegate and distribute mail and email communications, maintain process documentation, and/or ensure adequate onboarding training materials are available.

  • High standards for accuracy of work and must be able to work independently.

  • Use grammar and syntax and must be able to convey complicated legal and procedural information clearly and concisely with a minimum of oversight.

  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
