This Opportunity We are seeking a Geologist II to join our team! Your Key Responsibilities Use technical writing and analysis skills to prepare project deliverables including correspondence, proposals, data review and interpretation, project summary reports, remedial investigation reports, and remedy determination, remedy implementation and bid specifications, and cost estimates under direction of a Project Manager Provide directions to field staff and coordinate field activities with contractors and Bay West staff Mentor and train entry-level staff and act as Site Supervisor on large field events. May become Team Leader Conduct field work as requested, to include out-of-town travel for up to two weeks at a time, multiple times a year Read/understand SOPs and train on specific field tasks Accurately and efficiently conduct environmental sampling (air, water, soil, sediment) in accordance with the supplied work plan and SOPs Lead various highway construction projects as well as conducting roadway preconstruction investigationSupervise the correct installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, recovery wells (vapor phase and water) and treatment systems. Accurately and efficiently log soil cores/cuttings and prepare geologic boring logs and descriptions Lead the proper excavation of contaminated soil during remediation and construction projects Organize, digitize and file field notes in Document Locator in a timely manner Utilize and maintain field equipment in accordance with Bay West SOPs Help resolve problems as they arise in the field Manage schedule and relationships to maintain utilization goals and complete activities within promised time frames Demonstrate competency with field activities, including various methods of drilling, soil, and groundwater sampling Independently oversee drilling and excavation crews, including conducting health and safety tailgate meetings and directing field crews Enter field and laboratory data Requires Excel skills Attention to detail is critical Summarize field methods and results Technical writing - workplans/proposals Help prepare proposed scope of services and labor estimates for given field activities. Technical services - Geology/hydrogeologic analysis- Geologist only Help prepare well log summaries When not traveling, be available for one week out of every eight weeks to be part of an on-call Emergency Response (ER) team to clean-up hazardous and non-hazardous material spills, loading, unloading, and decontaminating ER equipment in an efficient and accurate manner Ability to travel up to 20%.
